The New Englander Nitro Funny Car has been a winner and a popular funny car for decades. The New Englander began its storied career in 1977 when Rhea W. Goodrich and Bob Simmons came together to field the Chevy Monza funny car. Rhea, the owner/director/mechanical engineer/engine builder, and Bob Simmons, the driver/promoter, campaigned the New Englander throughout the New England drag strips (match racing) and followed the regional NHRA events.

The New Englander has taken on the best in the field, and on several occasions won NHRA national event rounds, defeating the likes of Robert Hight and Courtney Force, to mention a few. Robert and Courtney were both present and past NHRA National Champions.

The personnel and their respective duties will remain the same for 2023. With the strategic moves of last year being in place, and some more new hardware, the New Englander Funny Car Team will move forward with much vigor and resolve for greater results. The New Englander Nitro Funny Car will follow the plan of attendance at four NHRA national events with a possibility of an additional one. This all depends on personal availability and available funding. See you at the track!!
